Located on Spruce Street in Steamboat Springs, CO, this project was an effort to remove blight and breathe new life into a very, very tired structure. This rejuvenation was a labor of love, when we began we had no idea that buried beneath a layer of exterior plywood and 4 layers of interior wall finishes lay a square timber log cabin dating back to 1926. This discovery led to a strategy realignment with the end goal of exposing the rustic character of the existing structure with a modern flair. Energy efficiency and comfort was on our minds (as always!)-and the decision process led to a complete exterior insulation wrap, new windows, and an upgrade from no roof insulation to R-50+. Floor plan improvements made the previous situation of having to go through the one bedroom to get to the bathroom go away. We are super excited to see the project nearing completion, landscaping and a new front porch are on the way this summer! The house is now occupied, with rave reviews for comfort and “feel” !
